Concept development methodology
The camera is a tool that both records but is also a traditional tool of artistic creativity. It maps the influence of the Creative Industries and the imputed transformation in creative processes and dissemination through the continuity of concept from analogue to digital equipment. The photographic process can be inference as analogous with how the mind sees and remembers:
Exposure
light coming in through the iris of the eye – images are burnt onto the retina
light coming in through the aperture of the lens – images are burnt onto the receptor.
The photographic process will therefore be investigated to infer and to organise the planning and nature of the building.
Such that the master plan would be the operating mechanism by which the knowledge of culture is vividly imprinted onto one’s memory.
By journeying through the construct, the participant will be moved from the “darkness” of not understanding, not comprehending to the full light of discovery. Vision and visual references are powerful agents for cataloguing and aiding human memory.
Studies of the nature of the (film) photographic process and the process by which an image is etched /captured onto the photographic plate will be undertaken.
Suggested process to study:
Daguerreotype
Calotype
Wet colludion
Dry plate
Ermanox
Further exercises of the stimulation of the developing process of the chemicals onto the silver plate will be done. These subsequent investigations will be used to reference the working of the building.
